Color Theory in Theory

Ever wonder why some colors seem to create a perfect harmony together?  Well let me tell you about it.  They say that you should write about what you know and with that something I happen to know a lot about and am especially passionate about is color theory.   In a few weeks I would like to begin a series of blogs dedicated to covering the basic concepts of color theory and hopefully if that goes well, I will be able to continue the series in delve into the more complicated side of color theory.   These concepts can be applied to about every aspect of your visual life to create more a world that is more pleasing to the eye.    I really look forward to kicking off some serious color blogging but until that time what I am going to do is post palettes and combinations using color theory principles just to inspire and get the wheels going in your mind.  Along with each palette, I will also make something using the combination of whatever palette I am sharing that I will feature in special section of my Etsy shop.   My first several posts are palettes I have used in the past to create a series of treasuries.   I have made cluster necklaces to go along with these that show the colors working together in a single piece opposed to how they are broken up in treasuries.  Also these items will be offered at a special price to any of my blog followers.  The cluster necklaces will vary in price depending on which gemstones I use but they will sell for $25-45 through my Etsy store but as one of my blog readers,  you can get $10 off one of these necklaces.  Just message me on Etsy or send me an email to get the discount applied to the item you want.  Thanks again and I hope you enjoy :)

It will be fun to get into how and why these colors work together the way they do but until I have the time to chart it out properly, I shall leave you with a set of 2 color trios, a combination of both triadic color sets as well as a split complimentary set. Let us begin with this delightful trio....

Sea Green/Lilac/Cool Peach

Some Etsy Examples:

These items are included in the treasury I created using this set of colors.  This collection took me a while to put together but I got colors just right.

And now this would be the item that I created using this harmonious color combination.  A cluster necklace made up of natural gemstones, crystals and glass beads.  The most eye catching stone would be the faceted amethyst.  Please visit my Etsy store if you want to make this yours!

And Now for Round 2:

Coral Red/Ocean Blue/Sea Foam Teal

And this is what I came up with in a cluster necklace that teamed up the 3 colors.

Isn't amazing how each of the colors gets stronger when paired up like this?  I find it very exciting and I hope you enjoy looking at these for now, I can't wait to begin explaining it all <3
